Leadership in Nonprofits and Social Entrepreneurship is a service-learning class focused on teaching students how to manage charities, foundations, associations, and other nonprofits. But this fall it will take on the Learning by Giving Foundation’s model, giving students the responsibility of distributing $30,000 in grants.

Eleven students and three staff members will spend six days over spring break exploring issues of international social justice and human trafficking in Prague, Czech Republic. The Center for Leadership and Service has partnered with campus ministries UTK Cru and Collegiate Abbey to provide this unique collaborative service immersion experience.
The Palm Beach Post featured a unique study that is examining tornadoes in Dixie Alley, which loosely includes Louisiana, Alabama, Mississippi, Tennessee and sometimes the western stretch of Florida. Kelsey Ellis, climatologist and UT assistant professor of geography, is a research participant in the study.
After thirty-nine years at UT, David Northington gave his final concert as a faculty member Sunday, March 6. The Knoxville News Sentinel featured Northington’s last concert prior to the event.
