UT has received a 2017 green power leadership award from the US Environmental Protection Agency.
UT Recycling’s Sustainability Art Show will be held from 6 to 10 p.m. Friday, March 31, at the UT Recycling Warehouse, 2121 Stephenson Drive, Dock 24. Artists will display works ranging from dance to sculpture that pertain to the show’s themes of sustainability and recycling.
The UT campus will be a little greener Friday, March 3, with the planting of 1,000 trees in honor of Tennessee Arbor Day.
UT Recycling will hold an awareness day from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. Wednesday, March 1, to promote its public recycling drop-off location on campus.
UT is among the top green institutions in the nation, according to the Princeton Review’s Guide to 361 Green Colleges: 2016 Edition list. The list was determined based upon a comprehensive assessment of more than 2,000 colleges. The publication notes that UT is a school with an “overall commitment to sustainability.”

For the eleventh consecutive year, UT is competing in the nationwide RecycleMania Tournament. Approximately 400 schools compete each spring to see who can produce the least amount of waste as well as recycle and compost the most.
