Next week marks the beginning of UT’s eighth annual Earth Month.
Earth Month has become a significant tradition at UT, one in which students, faculty, staff, and the greater Knoxville community have the opportunity to share their passion for the environment.
“This year’s event will feature numerous student and community organizations coming together to increase awareness of what we are doing to make the campus and Knoxville a more sustainable place to live, work, and play,” said UT Sustainability Manager Preston Jacobsen.
The month of events kicks off Wednesday, April 2, with a panel discussion on “Faith and the Environment” at 12:30 p.m. in the Great Room of the International House. Later that evening, the Humanities Amphitheater will host an outdoor screening of Wall-E.
Throughout the month, the UT community will engage in environmental forums, sustainability networking, bike-in movies, environmental service opportunities, and tours of sustainability hot spots on campus and around Knoxville.
“Earth Month will encompass a variety of issues and topics, and it’s our hope that we can engage the student body as well as the local community to protect our local environment while having fun,” Jacobsen said.
