WBIR, People Magazine Highlight Marching Band Performance in Inaugural Parade
WBIR featured the Evelyn Miller Young Pianist Series that takes place every year at UT. The series kicked off on Sunday, January 22 with Chang-Yong Shin. The remaining performances are Sunday, February 19, and Sunday, March 19.
Music students from UT, area high schools and multiple states will have the opportunity this week to learn from an expert—Avi Kaplan, bass vocalist in the Grammy award-winning a cappella group Pentatonic. The group formed in 2011 and won the third season of NBC’s vocal competition show, “The Sing-Off.”
The Knoxville Mercury recently featured the UT Opera Theatre’s production of Ulysses. The theater performed the play in early November.
Rolling Stone magazine featured Nief-Norf, a contemporary music ensemble co-created by Andrew Bliss, UT assistant professor of music.
Alumna Alexandria Shiner got the chance to study with renowned opera singer Renée Fleming over the summer in Chicago. Shiner was chosen from hundreds of applicants to participate in the National Association of Teachers of Singing master class, a small workshop at which Fleming mentored Shiner and three other students.
