UT’s David Icove, the UL Professor of Practice, appeared on the radio show ‘Speaking of Fire‘ to discuss his book, ‘Kirk’s Fire Investigations,’ considered the book of record on such investigations.

Donna Ingram and Mike Schlatman, both former leaders of the International Association of Arson Investigators, use the show as a way to help spread knowledge about anything and everything related to fire investigations.

The hour-long episode featured Icove’s take on the behavior and motivation of arsonists, and how understanding that can help prevent future crimes.

Icove revealed that his interest in the field came from his time earning a fire protection badge in the Boy Scouts, when the local fire marshal encouraged him to pursue a degree in fire protection engineering.

He also talked about what’s new in the latest update of his book.
