kathleen-buckleyCurious about how an actor gets into character?

Kathleen Buckley, associate professor of theatre, will provide a behind-the-scenes look at how actors break down a script at this week’s final Pregame Showcase before the Vols take on the Missouri Tigers.

Her talk, “Shakespeare’s First Folio: How Actors Use It,” will begin at 5:30 p.m. on Saturday, November 22, in the ballroom (Room 213) of the Carolyn P. Brown University Center.

Using Shakespeare’s First Folio from 1623, Buckley will demonstrate how an actor gathers information from a script to gain insight into a character’s thoughts and feelings. Buckley’s presentation will include hands-on exercises for the audience.

Now in its twenty-fifth season, the Pregame Showcase, sponsored by the College of Arts and Sciences, gives fans the chance to hear from accomplished faculty from the College of Arts and Sciences prior to each gridiron matchup. UT Athletics and UT Knoxville Alumni Affairs are also supporting partners.

Free and open to the public, the showcase will feature a thirty-minute presentation followed by a fifteen-minute question-and-answer session. A brief reception will follow and a door prize will be awarded.
