The work of Dayakar Penumadu, Fred Peebles Professor and head of the Department of Civil and Environmental Engineering; Robin Woracek, a doctoral student in civil and environmental engineering; and collaborating penumade_woracek_publishresearchers at the Helmholtz Zentrum Berlin has developed a new characterization technique that holds promise for improving medical applications, manufacturing processes, and material properties. The novel method allows crystalline phase distributions to be visualized and quantified within the bulk of metallic samples. The work is on the cover of the current issue of the journal Advanced Materials. For more information, visit the College of Engineering website.
