Jean-LewisJean Lewis, professor emeritus in the College of Education, Health, and Human Sciences, recently passed away after an extended illness.

Lewis served as a member of the faculty for more than twenty years until her retirement in 1995. She was a vital part of the physical education faculty and later, the exercise science faculty, in which she played a major role in the development of a new undergraduate major. She was an innovative teacher who set a high bar for excellence for students in her anatomy and biomechanics courses. Her passion for teaching and mentoring students was evident to all who knew her. Her impact on students was confirmed by the positive feedback she received from graduates who moved on to successful careers in many fields, including physical therapy and athletic training.

A celebration of life service in honor of Lewis will be held at 5:00 p.m. Friday, March 7, at Rose Mortuary on Broadway.
