The Knoxville News Sentinel and Associated Press covered the election of George Pharr, professor of materials sciences, to the National Academy of Engineering. Pharr joined UT and Oak Ridge National Laboratory in 1998 and was head of the materials science and engineering department for five years until 2011. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Rice University in 1975 and his doctorate from Stanford in 1979. Read the story here.
