Maureen Nalle, an assistant professor in the College of Nursing, passed away on Friday at the age of sixty-one.
Maureen received her doctorate in health education from UT in 1996 before teaching with areas of focus on the college’s continuing education, teaching, and community service. Her research interests included a statewide assessment of nurses’ continuing education needs, child day care, and health education. Maureen also served in the US Army from which she retired as a major.
Maureen was elected numerous times to Tennessee Nurses Association. She was also a life-long and passionate volunteer with many organizations, including Red Cross and Volunteer Ministries, and served on multiple medical missions to Ghana and Haiti.
She leaves behind her husband and three children.

A Rosary service will be held 5:00 p.m. Tuesday with the family receiving friends from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Rose Mortuary Mann Heritage Chapel at 6200 Kingston Pike in Knoxville. A celebration of life funeral mass will be held 10:30 a.m. Wednesday at All Saints Catholic Church at 620 North Cedar Bluff Road in Knoxville.
