After devoting four years to completing their degrees within the College of Veterinary Medicine, three graduates will segue into a life of service. Renee Womack, Peggy Hsu, and Whitney Vickery are graduating this week as doctors of veterinary medicine and will then join the ranks of the US Army Veterinary Corps.
WATE-TV’s Erica Estep interviewed new UT alumni Justin Kramer and Aaron Ross, the first to graduate in UT’s construction science program. The concentration curriculum has given the students a multidisciplinary background with courses within the colleges of Agriculture and Natural Resources, Arts and Sciences, and Business Administration.
This spring, Justin Kramer will be the first UT student to graduate from the university’s new Construction Science Program. The program launched in 2010 in the Institute of Agriculture’s Department of Biosystems Engineering and Soil Science and seeks to prepare students for the management side of the construction industry.
The civil rights movement of the 1960s was started and perpetuated by college students who risked their safety and even their lives for the cause. History professor Cynthia Fleming is taking her UT students back to the scene of these events to revisit history through firsthand accounts.
During commencement week, notable alumni are sharing their favorite memories from their time on Rocky Top. Dale Dickey, an actress known for her roles in the TV series “My Name is Earl” and the movie “Winter’s Bone,” recalls her time on and off the stage at the Clarence Brown Theatre.
