Margaret Morrison, professor and interim director of the School of Advertising and Public Relations, has been named the permanent director of the school effective July 1.

“I am grateful to Margie for her service as interim director over the past year, and I greatly appreciate her willingness to serve the school and the college in this critical role going forward,” said Mike Wirth, dean of the College of Communication and Information.

Morrison joined the UT Knoxville faculty in 1995 and completed her doctoral degree from the University of Georgia the following year.

She is the current vice president of the American Academy of Advertising. Her research has been published in academic journals such as The Journal of Advertising, the Journal of Advertising Research, and the Journal of Public Policy and Marketing.

Prior to her academic career, Morrison worked as an audience research analyst with MTV Networks. She also has served as a consultant for the US Department of Justice.
