The UT Parents Association’s annual Big Orange Tailgate on Saturday was a zero-waste event, and WBIR-TV was on hand to cover what was being done with the plastic bottles, aluminum cans, plates, food, and utensils. All waste from the event was either recycled or composted for the UT organic farm. Between 30 and 40 volunteers collect recyclables at every home football game, but this year, they’ve also starting collecting compost. See the story here.
