The Ready for the World Café next week will journey into Africa — not only with a buffet of exotic foods, but also with the film “Madagascar 2: Escape to Africa” and a possible fund-raiser for African causes.
The Marco Institute for Medieval and Renaissance Studies will host a symposium on “Humanism and Its Economies” March 5-6, 2009. The symposium takes a fresh interdisciplinary approach to the Renaissance and its re-evaluation of the place of man and woman in the universe. Attendance is free but registration is required by Friday, Feb. 27.
Christopher Craig, Lindsay Young Professor of Classics and Director of College Scholars, has been invited to deliver the 2009 Stocker Lecture in Classics at the University of Virginia. He will speak in Charlottesville today on “The Theory and Practice of Outrage in Cicero’s Defense Speeches.”
A news magazine program produced by UT Knoxville journalism and electronic media students will begin an eight-week run Saturday, March 7, on WBIR-TV Channel 10. “UT Today” will air on the NBC affiliate at 1 p.m. on Saturdays through April 25.
