The Office of Communications and Marketing recently won several awards, including three top awards, in a regional advertising, communications, and marketing competition. The Council for Advancement and Support of Education awarded UT eight awards at its District III regional conference in Atlanta.
The green fee, officially known as the Student Environmental Initiatives Fee, was established in 2005 by the Student Government Association to create a fund for environmental projects on campus. These projects contribute to the effort to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and bring down year-over-year utility costs.

VolShop director Carol Miller-Schaefer is being honored with a lifetime achievement award from the National Association of College Stores. The VolShop also was recently recognized for its work with the Adera Foundation, a fair-trade organization that provides jobs to women in Ethiopia.
A vehicle access control gate has been installed on Middle Drive just west of Perkins Hall. Beginning Monday, February 12, the gate will become operational, closing Middle Drive to vehicles from 7 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday each week.
The search is under way for a vice provost for international affairs for the UT Knoxville campus. Reporting to the provost and senior vice chancellor, the vice provost is the chief international officer of the university and works closely with the university community to lead the development of UT’s strategic international agenda.
