Nominations for the inaugural Rocky Top Business Awards are open now through August 14. The awards will recognize the fastest-growing businesses owned or led by alumni of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville. Recipients will be recognized at a celebration event in spring 2023 where the awards will be handed out and numerical rankings announced.

The awards honor UT’s vast network of business leaders and entrepreneurs, bringing together a like-minded group to share experiences and insights.

“Rocky Top Business Awards will build a network of entrepreneurs that grows year after year,” said Chip Bryant, vice chancellor for advancement. “As well as recognizing deserving Vol businesses, we hope to encourage a community where these leaders can share their experience and lessons learned.”

Anyone can nominate a deserving Vol-owned or Vol-led business. All you need is the organization name, alumni owner or leader name, and an email address for the organization. Recipients are selected on the basis of the organization’s longevity and revenue, alumni leadership, and character.

Once the nomination period is closed, nominees will receive an application link by email and can choose whether or not to complete an application. The application phase will start September 1 with a deadline of January 6, 2023. Applications will be reviewed by Knoxville-based accounting firm and UT partner PYA.
