Global Gallery, an exhibition of photographs showcasing the Volunteer experience around the world by students, faculty, and staff of the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, opens October 11 in the Student Union Gallery on UT’s campus.
“The challenges of the global pandemic demanded new approaches to continue our mission of promoting cultural awareness,” said Gretchen Neisler, vice provost for international affairs and director of UT’s Center for Global Engagement. “In the wake of limited gatherings, closed facilities, and disrupted travel across the world, the Center for Global Engagement made purposeful shifts in the design, medium, and structure of its outreach. We used our existing programming as pillars to discover new ways to meet the challenges. The Global Gallery is one of the activities that emerged from this environmental scan.”
The exhibition captures the global experience of each photographer and encourages students to immerse themselves into cultures around the globe and express their unique experiences with the UT community. Audience members can stroll through the exhibit, scan a QR code, and listen to the story behind each photograph.
The exhibition is open through November 5. Visit the center’s website for a preview of the artwork.
