UT Associate Vice Chancellor for Public Safety and Chief of Police Troy Lane was sworn in Thursday as president of the Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police (TACP).
He is the first campus police chief to hold the position.
The ceremony, held at the UT Police Department, was administered by David Rausch, director of the Tennessee Bureau of Investigation and a TACP past president.
The Tennessee Association of Chiefs of Police serves municipal law enforcement chiefs and federal, state, and university law enforcement agencies across the state. The organization provides members with opportunities for professional training, management development, and legislative representation.
Lane has served in various roles on the TACP board since 2016. He most recently was vice president of the organization. One of Lane’s goals as president is to deepen and strengthen the leadership of the board and members.
