Regular listeners to Knoxville’s NPR station will hear a very familiar set of pipes next month. Former news host Chrissy Keuper is returning to WUOT, which is licensed to the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, to anchor local portions of NPR’s evening newsmagazine, All Things Considered.
Her return is already generating excitement inside and outside the station, which celebrates its 70th birthday this fall.
“We’re delighted to bring back a familiar voice to WUOT. Many of our listeners will remember Chrissy when she hosted Morning Edition from 2004 to 2015,” WUOT Director Regina Dean said. “We’re excited to welcome her back on our airwaves as our All Things Considered host. We know she’s happy that in her new role she won’t have to set three alarm clocks to make sure she gets to work on time!”
Keuper’s first day back at WUOT is Monday, July 1, and she’ll begin hosting later in the month. She will also take turns hosting WUOT’s public affairs program, Dialogue, and contribute in-depth features and interviews that tell East Tennessee’s many stories.
After her 2015 departure from WUOT, Keuper wrote for Knoxville’s CityView magazine. But she recently felt the magnetic draw of returning to her radio roots.
“I didn’t realize how much I would miss the university and working in public radio, and I’m so excited to have the opportunity to come back,” Keuper said.
Keuper, a Johnson City, Tennessee, native, succeeds Brandon Hollingsworth, WUOT’s longtime All Things Considered host. He remains at WUOT, overseeing the station’s award-winning news department.
Listener-supported WUOT 91.9 FM serves listeners throughout East Tennessee and parts of Kentucky, North Carolina, Georgia, and Virginia. Its format includes classical and jazz music, news, and public affairs. The station broadcasts 24 hours a day, seven days a week, and streams online at wuot.org.
WUOT’s second audio channel, WUOT-2, is available on HD Radio, Internet radio, and online at wuot.org.
