Expand your academic experience and enhance your understanding and knowledge of an academic field by participating in international undergraduate research this summer.

The UT Summer International Research Opportunities education abroad program provides students the opportunity to join an ongoing research project through a short-term, research-based internship, helping to clarify academic, career, and personal interests.

You will join existing projects at various stages of the research process and engage in a quantitative, qualitative, or mixed methods approach. Research-based placements can be at universities abroad, in the private business sector, as well as research centers.

Research placements are available in a wide array of fields depending on your interests and academic background. Whether you are studying STEM, the social sciences, communications, or any other discipline, we will work with you to find a placement that fits your interests.

Sample placements include:

Trenton Hinson, biomedical engineering major, assisted with the nonprofit Auckland, New Zealand-based collaboration, Accelerating Auckland, on a project to develop and build the largest 3D printer in the South Pacific.

Delaney Thurston, medical laboratory science major, worked on a stem cell research project at the biotechnological company, Cells for Cells in Santiago, Chile.

Curious about what opportunities are available to you? Call to schedule an appointment with a programs abroad coordinator at 865-974-3177. Deadline to apply for summer 2019 is December 6.
