Vejas Liulevicius, history professor and director for the Center of the Study of War and Society, spoke with WBIR about detailing the lives of Knoxville veterans thanks to an award from the Veterans Legacy Program which is an education public outreach initiative of the U.S. Department of Veteran’s Affairs.

“The real heart of the project is matching names of veterans who are buried there with honors to their stories. So that it’s not just a name; it’s not just a headstone; it’s not just a set of dates of birth and death — we also want to investigate and share with the community at large the stories that are contained in those lives.”
