The Fort Lewis College Common Reading Experience selected its first Native American author since the program started in 2006, according to The Durango Herald. UT English professor Joy Harjo’s memoir Crazy Brave is being read by the college’s freshman class. About 33 percent of the college body is Native American, and Harjo is a member of the Mvskoke Nation.
