A group of incoming freshmen got their first taste of being a Vol on Tuesday by volunteering at The Love Kitchen in Knoxville during the Ignite Serves program, hosted by the Center for Leadership and Service.

More than 13,000 incoming freshmen having participated in the program during its 15-year history. More than 500 students will participate in Ignite Serve activities this week, serving local Knoxville organizations, completing leadership workshops, and enjoying social activities.

Along with those working at the Love Kitchen, students are serving at Ijams Nature Center, Knoxville Botanical Garden and Arboretum, and CAC Beardsley Community Farm.

Ignite offers four programs—Ignite Outdoors, Ignite Knox, Ignite Leadership Summit and Ignite Serves. Learn more about all four Ignite programs offered by the Center for Leadership and Service.
