From working at food banks in multiple states to sprucing up neighborhoods in Philadelphia and Atlanta to working at a summer program for kids in rural Tennessee, students and alumni around the country are joining forces this summer to underscore UT’s volunteer tradition.

The efforts are a part of Volunteering with the Vols, a series of community service projects taking place during June and July in fourteen cities around the country. This is the second year for the program, which is coordinated by the Office of Undergraduate Admissions and Alumni Affairs.

“These events are great opportunities for incoming students to get to know each other and network with current students and alumni,” said Kari Alldredge, vice provost for enrollment management. “Participants enjoy the camaraderie of the Big Orange family while serving the community; it truly brings the Volunteer spirit to life.”
