The Office of the Provost is accepting Future Faculty Program nominations through March 31 for the September 14–16 program.

The Future Faculty Program began in 2011 as one of several campus-wide initiatives promoted by the university’s Council on Diversity and Interculturalism to increase diversity in the tenure-line faculty cohort. In six years, this program has resulted in five hires of junior scholars from underrepresented populations and furthered our international reputation.

In addition to showcasing our campus, FFP provides units with the opportunity to build networks among and recruit from underrepresented populations.

Program participants are introduced to UT’s resources, attend a workshop on developing negotiation skills, and attend professional events hosted by their prospective departments. Social events and a tour of Knoxville also are part of the weekend’s activities.

To be eligible for participation, candidates must be from populations that are underrepresented in their disciplines. They must be within one to two years of entering the academic job market at the time of participation.

Required nomination materials include the nominee’s curriculum vitae and a nomination narrative that includes how and why the nominee was chosen.

Participation is by invitation only from the Office of the Provost. Submit nominations to Heather Cockrum (hcockrum@utk.edu) by Friday, March 31.

The nominations will be forwarded to the relevant college by Wednesday, April 12, and the college deans will submit all acceptable nominations to Heather Cockrum by Monday, May 1.
