Gary Gray will join the Office of the Provost as assistant provost for finance and administration on March 13.

Gray is currently assistant director for the Division of Finance and Administration. He has helped coordinate the annual proposed and revised campus budget processes and has managed a team responsible for planning, budgeting, monitoring, and reporting for the Knoxville campus.

As assistant provost, Gray will develop and implement the office’s academic planning and budgeting process, oversee the budgets and financial operations of the colleges and academic affairs offices, and serve as the office’s liaison with the Division of Finance and Administration. He will provide support to the vice provosts and other members of the Division of Academic Affairs in modeling, forecasting, developing, and disseminating academic data to guide decision making in enrollment management, faculty recruitment and retention, and other priorities of the campus strategic plan.

Gray takes over for Betsy Adams, who is now working in the Haslam College of Business.
