UT’s College of Architecture and Design will host a variety of internationally renowned architects and guest lecturers during the 2017 spring semester.
Unless otherwise noted, lectures begin at 5:30 p.m. and are held in McCarty Auditorium Room, 109 in the Art and Architecture Building. All lectures are free and open to the public.
This semester’s lineup includes:
February 20—Robert B. Church Lecture featuring Brad Collett, assistant professor in the Department of Plant Sciences with a faculty appointment to the landscape architecture program in the College of Architecture and Design.
February 27—Robert B. Church Lecture featuring Nicholas de Monchaux, director, author and associate professor of architecture and urban design for the University of California, Berkeley.
April 8—General Shale Lecture featuring Pritzker Prize winner Kazuyo Sejima, founder of SANAA. This lecture will be held at 4 p.m. at the Bijou Theatre.
April 10—Robert B. Church Lecture featuring Nataly Gattegno co-founder of Future Cities Lab.
April 17—Robert B. Church Lecture featuring Darius Ammon, inaugural Tennessee Architecture Fellow in UT’s College of Architecture and Design.
April 29—General Shale Lecture featuring Craig Dykers, founding partner of Snohetta. This lecture will be held at 2 p.m. at the Bijou Theatre.
For 43 years, UT’s College of Architecture and Design has hosted leading architects and design professionals through its Robert B. Church Memorial Lecture Series and, more recently, Governor’s Chair and General Shale lecture series to enrich the education of its students and elevate the profession in the community. In 2016-17, more than a dozen professionals from around the world will lecture at the college.
