October 31 is the deadline to enroll in the flexible benefits plan for 2017. Open enrollment began October 3. This program requires employees to sign up for the benefit each year, regardless of whether they are currently enrolled.
The process is separate from the open enrollment for medical, dental, and vision insurance.
Flexible benefits allow employees to pay for certain expenses with pretax income rather than after-tax income. The plan can be used to cover expenses associated with medical, dental, vision, dependent care, elder care, prescriptions, transportation, and parking.
The University of Tennessee is joining the State of Tennessee under one Payflex contract. This means that all UT employees must re-register under the state’s plan using their Social Security number and ZIP code. For more information, go to stateoftn.payflexdirect.com.
