Beginning Monday, October 3, students will be challenged to recreate throwback photos from UT alumni highlighting some of their favorite memories from their time on Rocky Top.
Each Monday, two photos submitted by alumni will be posted on UT’s Twitter and Instagram accounts. Students will have until Thursday of that same week to post recreated photos with the hashtag #BigOrangeThrowback. Two winning recreations will be shared on social media in honor of Big Orange Friday.
The photo challenge will happen every week in October leading up to the 100th anniversary of Homecoming, which takes place October 29 through November 5.
Alumni
Flash back to your favorite memories as a student on campus and send us photos of your best moments on Rocky Top. Download, scan, or take a picture of a picture if you must! Just e-mail your photos to social@utk.edu, and we will choose eight to feature as our challenge photos.
Keep an eye on our Twitter and Instagram accounts every Monday in October to see if your photo has been chosen for the challenge. Then come back on Fridays to see the student winners!
Students
Check in on our Twitter and Instagram accounts each Monday, October 3 through 31, to see your challenge photos. Take photos of you and your friends recreating the challenge photos—whether it’s as accurate as possible, a modern take on the photo, or even as silly as you can make it.
Use the hashtag #BigOrangeThrowback when posting your entries. Two winners will be announced on Twitter and Instagram at the end of each week and will receive some UT giveaway items.
Here are a few rules to keep in mind:
- When posting your photos to Twitter or Instagram, use #BigOrangeThrowback to show us that you’ve completed the challenge. If you don’t use the hashtag, we won’t see your awesome photos.
- Keep it appropriate. Would your grandma be happy with that photo you’re submitting?
- Don’t break any laws or campus rules while completing the challenge.
- Have fun and be creative. Make your photos stand out.
