The public is invited to join UT’s McClung Museum of Natural History and Culture during the month of June for free dinosaur-related family fun.
“In the Land of the Dinosaurs” Family Fun Day will take place on June 11 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. featuring activities, crafts and tours of the exhibition Dino Discoveries: Ancient Fossils, New Ideas.
The program is free and open to the public. Reservations are not necessary.
The “Moving Among Dinosaurs” Stroller Tour and activity will take place from 10:00 to 11:00 a.m. on June 27. The program also includes a tour of Dino Discoveries, an exhibition focusing on how dinosaurs once moved, and a dino-related craft.
The tour is free and open to the public, but reservations are necessary and are first-come, first-served. Online registration is preferred and is available at tiny.utk.edu/strollertour. Participants also may call 865-974-2144 to make a reservation.
Both activities are part of the museum’s current special exhibition, Dino Discoveries: Ancient Fossils, New Ideas, which explores how new discoveries and technologies reveal how dinosaurs lived, moved and behaved. The exhibition is organized by the American Museum of Natural History in New York, in collaboration with the California Academy of Sciences in San Francisco, the Field Museum in Chicago, the Houston Museum of Natural Science, and the North Carolina Museum of Natural Sciences in Raleigh.
The McClung Museum is located at 1327 Circle Park Drive. Museum admission is free, and the museum’s hours are 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday to Saturday and 1:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sundays. Free two-hour museum parking passes are available from the parking kiosk at the entrance to Circle Park Drive during the week. Free parking is available on the weekends. Free public transportation to the museum is available via the Knoxville Trolley Vol Line.
