Eating a variety of fresh vegetables is easy and enjoyable in the summer months as local farms’ crops come into season. Participating in community-supported agriculture allows consumers to support local farmers while receiving an assortment of fresh and flavorful produce weekly.

The Knox County Health Department is hosting a CSA Fair from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. Friday, March 11, in the community room at its 140 Dameron Ave. building. This is event free and open to the public.

In a CSA, a farmer will offer a certain number of “shares” of its crop to the public. Consumers who buy a share will receive a box each week filled with vegetables and other crops. CSAs have become a popular way for consumers to buy local seasonal food directly from a farmer.
