UT’s Center for Career Development in the new Student Union has named an interview room in honor of Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee, recognizing the company’s support of various university programs.

Jeff Pannell, chief marketing officer of Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee, and Stephanie Kit, director of the Center for Career Development, participated in a dedication ceremony today.

“This dedication recognizes Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee’s recent commitment of $25,000, in addition to the numerous ways their company has supported the College of Agricultural Sciences and Natural Resources, the Haslam College of Business, and the Athletics Department,” Kit said.”

Last year, more than 3,300 interviews were conducted on campus by more than 230 employers.

“When a UT student finds an opportunity to work with an employer that’s right for him or her, we will be proud to know that it happened in the Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee Interview Room,” said Pannell. “This is where career journeys begin.”

With its central location on campus and completely new facilities, the Center for Career Development is creating new opportunities for UT students to plan for their careers. The Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee Interview Room is a part of the Alan and Wendy Wilson Career Development Suite on the top floor of the Student Union building. The interview room provides a better space to host employers from across the country to encourage their recruitment of UT students.

UT senior Rachel Van Deventer, a Global Leadership Scholar in business analytics and a lead peer career advisor in the Center for Career Development, said the center has been instrumental in her UT career, having led her to internships in audit analytics, supply chain, and commercial analysis with Georgia Pacific in Atlanta, Cummins Turbo Technologies in Charleston, South Carolina, and Dunnhumby in London, respectively.

“UT students deeply appreciate the facilities that companies like Farm Bureau Insurance of Tennessee have made available to us as we prepare ourselves for careers in the global marketplace,” she said.
