A recent roof leak resulted in damage to several areas in the HPER Building.

Water damaged the hardwood floors and ceilings in five handball courts; a squash court; a portion of Room 202A; and Room 202B, where the rock climbing wall area is located.

These specific areas will be closed while repairs are completed for at least the next six to eight weeks.

Classes that take place in Room 202B will be relocated to the unaffected portion of Room 202A until further notice.

Crews from two different contractors are currently drying the walls and ceilings in the affected areas, and wet floors have also been removed to prevent further damage and to make way for new flooring.

Roofing repairs are expected to take place during the same six- to eight-week time period. Facilities Services crews are monitoring the damaged roof to ensure there is no further damage to the interior of the building.
