Ten southern collegiate a cappella groups will compete this weekend at UT for a chance to advance to the national stage.

The community is invited to attend the International Competition of Collegiate A Cappella South Quarterfinal at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 7, in the Sandra G. Powell Recital Hall of the Natalie L. Haslam Music Center.

UT’s all-male group VOLume will be competing.

UT’s female group reVOLution will perform as a demonstration group. They will travel to Gainesville, Florida, later this month to compete in their own quarterfinal.

Collegiate contemporary a cappella ensembles are student-run and -directed singing groups that perform without instruments.

Tickets for students are $18 and $20 for general admission. For more information or to purchase tickets, visit the event website.

Contestants who win Saturday will advance to the national semifinals round.

In addition to UT’s VOLume, other competitors are HardChord DynaMix from Texas A&M University, Harmonic Notion from Vanderbilt University, Sweet Signatures from Elon University, the Beltones from Belmont University, the BluesTones from James Madison University, the RoaNotes from Roanoke College, UNT Green Tones from University of North Texas, VirtuOSO from Baylor University, and Paws and Listen from the University of Kentucky.
