The university will honor six alumni tonight with Distinguished Alumnus/Alumna Awards, the highest honor given to alumni who have excelled at the national or international level in their field.

UT will also recognize other alumni for their achievements and service at its annual Alumni Board Awards Dinner tonight.

The 2014 Distinguished Alumnus/Alumnae represent a variety of academic and professional fields:

Randy Boyd, a Haslam College of Business alumnus, is founder, chairman, and CEO of Radio Systems, with more than 4,600 technology-based pet products under brand names such as Invisible Fence, PetSafe, SportDOG, and Premier.

Terry D. Douglass, who earned his bachelor’s, master’s, and doctoral degrees from the College of Engineering, has shaped an industry, transformed medical diagnostics internationally, and impacted hundreds of thousands of lives.

Alan Greenberg, a College of Information and Communication alumnus, is a prolific creator and operator of interactive and traditional media focused on the education, health care, and global travel services sectors.

Kimberly Scheibe Greene, a College of Engineering alumna, is the executive vice president and chief operating officer of the Southern Company, the fourth-largest utility company in the United States, headquartered in Atlanta.

Clayton M. Jones, a College of Arts and Sciences alumnus, retired in 2013 as chairman and CEO of Rockwell Collins Inc., an aviation electronics and communications equipment company in Cedar Rapids, Iowa. He earned a degree in political science from UT.

Thomas E. Lauria, a College of Arts and Sciences and College of Law alumnus, the global head of Financial Restructuring and Insolvency Practice at White & Case LLP in Miami, is one of the foremost bankruptcy attorneys in the world.
