Rich Middlemas, film producer and UT graduate, will hold a discussion on his 2011 Oscar-winning documentary film Undefeated.
The event will be at 2:30 p.m. on Friday, October 24, in the Communications Building Scripps Auditorium.
The film will be screened at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday, October 23, in Hodges Library Room 129.
Both events are free and open to the public.
Middlemas received a bachelor’s degree in 1997 and majored in broadcasting in the College of Communication and Information.
Undefeated tells the story of Bill Courtney, a newly hired football coach at Manassas High School in Shelby County, Tennessee, and his efforts to reverse the fortunes of its underfunded and underprivileged football team. One critic wrote that within the genre of football movies, “it’s the closest to touching the greatness of H. G. Bissinger’s tome Friday Night Lights and Michael Lewis’ The Blind Side.”
This event is co-sponsored by the Department of Journalism and Electronic Media and the Cinema Studies Program.
