Research by a psychology professor was included in The Wall Street Journal. According to the article, research by assistant professor Garriy Shteynberg helps explain how financial contagion spreads and how to protect yourself against it. Paying attention to the right people turns out to be hugely important, according to the article. Several recent experiments led by Shteynberg have explored what he calls “shared attention.” The experiments find that when you pay attention to the same thing at the same time others do, you will remember it better and be more inclined to act on it.
