Music lovers are invited to a performance of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky’s Symphony No. 4 by the UT Symphony Orchestra on Saturday, February 15.
The 7:30 p.m. concert will be held in James R. Cox Auditorium of the Alumni Memorial Building.
Prior to the concert, a 6:45 p.m. lecture, “The Fate of the Fourth: Behind Tchaikovsky’s Emotional Symphony,” will be presented in Alumni Memorial Building, Room 210.
Both the lecture and concert are free and open to the public.
“Tchaikovsky’s Symphony no. 4 is one of the most thrilling pieces in the orchestral literature, and audience members of all kinds will find it exciting and engaging,” said James Fellenbaum, director of UT orchestras. “It is also one of the most complex and challenging pieces the orchestra program has ever tackled, and those who have been following the UTSO programs over the years will find this to be a very interesting program, to see these students performing such a tremendous piece of music.”
