Fifteen teams from twelve East Tennessee high schools will compete at the fifth annual Tennessee High School Ethics Bowl on Saturday, February 8. The day-long competition is sponsored by the Department of Philosophy.
The event will be held at the Crowne Plaza Knoxville Hotel, 401 West Summit Hill Drive. The opening remarks begin at 10:30 a.m., and the closing ceremony is scheduled for 7:00 p.m.
The Tennessee High School Ethics Bowl gathers high school students from East Tennessee to analyze a series of ethical cases ranging from political sex scandals to Trayvon Martin’s death. Afterward, the teams present their ideas to fifteen judges, including UT faculty and Knoxville community leaders.
The winner of the Tennessee High School Ethics Bowl will advance to the National High School Ethics Bowl at the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, on April 4 and 5.
