Students, faculty, and staff who ride two routes of the campus’s new T bus system will have the chance to start their day off with a little trivia on Friday, August 23, and win some prizes.

Two Prize Ride T buses will run from 8:50 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.—or until prizes run out—on the Hill and Neyland Express routes. A map of T routes can be found online. Passengers on the specially marked Prize Ride buses who correctly answer UT-themed trivia will win prizes.

Campus tour guides will conduct the trivia challenge, and Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek will ride along for the first ride of the day on the Hill route, boarding at the Science and Engineering Research Facility at 8:55 a.m. and exiting at Hodges Library. The chancellor will then head inside to speak at a ribbon-cutting ceremony at One Stop Express Student Services on the first floor of the library at 9:15 a.m.

Prizes have been donated by several campus groups, including the Office of Parking and Transit Services, the athletic department, VolShop, Volunteer Dining, Thompson-Boling Arena, the Division of Student Life, and Alumni Affairs. Some of the available prizes include t-shirts, gift certificates, coupons, and gift bags.

The T is free to ride, and the Prize Ride trivia contest is free to play. Learn more about the T bus Prize Ride on the T website.

The campus community can track T buses’ GPS locations through the UT mobile app, available for iPhone and Android. The app also provides updates on road closures and route schedule changes, as well as UT news and events.
