Darren CurryDarren Curry began work last week as the director of UT’s new One Stop student services center, which will open in the summer of 2013 and will streamline the way students do their primary business with the university.

One Stop will be housed on the ground floor of Hodges Library. The center will provide a single location where students can access registrar, financial aid, and bursar office services.

β€œI am excited about the opportunity to direct this new operation at UT, and I am confident the students will find it very beneficial as they progress through their educational journey,” Curry said. β€œIt is definitely a big idea that will enhance the student experience at UT and make it even more exceptional.”

Curry comes to UT from Abilene Christian University in Abilene, Texas, where he was assistant director of residential services and retention and assistant director of housing. He also directed an innovative customer service operation similar to One Stop at ACU.

Curry will oversee twelve One Stop counselors trained to assist students with class scheduling, financial aid counseling, application processing, accessing and utilizing Banner, handling scholarships and grants and many other services. One Stop will have an electronic check-in system and will be wireless and paperless.

The center is being modeled after other successful one-stop operations across the country. One Stop is a Top 25 initiative that supports student retention and success.
