Students exploring the robotics lab.

The Knoxville News Sentinel covered an outreach science event conducted by UT’s CURENT Engineering Research Center at Whittle Springs Middle School. About fifty students got the chance to learn about engineering and see it up close and personal as part of a partnership the school has with CURENT, which promotes electrical engineering and research through education and outreach programs. Chien-fei Chen, a research assistant professor and education co-director for the CURENT Center, said she hoped students realized that science and engineering are disciplines they can do and can be fun.
