Provost Susan D. Martin, professor of classics, was recognized last week at the annual meeting of the Classical Association of the Middle West and South (CAMWS).
Martin received a Latin Ovatio, the association’s Lifetime Achievement Award. CAMWS is the largest regional classics association representing thirty-two states and three Canadian provinces.
Martin is past president of the association. She was honored for her distinguished scholarship on the social and legal history of the Roman Empire and for her leadership in the discipline and profession.
Martin was named provost and senior vice chancellor for academic affairs in 2009 after serving as interim provost since 2008. She has worked for UT for more than 30 years.
