KNOXVILLE — The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, will hold its annual fall graduate hooding ceremony at 4:30 p.m., Thursday, December 8, in the Thompson-Boling Assembly Center and Arena.
A total of 607 graduate students will receive advanced degrees, including eighty-nine earning the doctor of philosophy degree, two specialists in education, 496 master’s degrees, and twenty graduate certificates. In addition, students will be recognized who earned degrees in the summer 2011 term. The ceremony will be webcast live at http://gradschool.utk.edu/hooding/hoodinginfo.shtml.
Stephanie Rene Hill, a 2010 graduate, will be the keynote speaker. Hill received a PhD in exercise and sport sciences with a concentration in sport sociology.
As a graduate student, Hill was a recipient of two fellowships: the Graduate Diversity Enhancement Fellowship and the Southern Regional Education Board dissertation year fellowship.
In 2007, she was appointed vice president of students for the National Association of Girls and Women in Sports. In 2011, she received the Staff Excellence Award from the Maya Angelou Academy in Laurel, Maryland. Hill currently serves as branch director of the George Ferris Jr. Boys and Girls Club of Greater Washington, D.C.
