Wiggio.com and the National Institute for Mathematical and Biological Synthesis (NIMBioS) just announced a partnership to spearhead the Wiggio Premium application, which offers groups and organizations a private-labeled collaboration tool. This application combines Wiggio’s existing services with new, advanced features within a closed community. NIMBioS will use this advanced toolkit to connect biological researchers from around the world to collaborate on projects.

At NIMBioS, top researchers from around the world work toward finding creative solutions to today’s biological problems, and they are using Wiggio as their primary application to share their research, ideas, and data. Now, NIMBioS has strengthened their collaboration capabilities by upgrading their account. NIMBioS, located at University of Tennessee, Knoxville, has used Wiggio’s classic version since 2009.

“We’re looking forward to applying the cloud collaboration approach to foster scientific collaborations across disciplines and to evaluate how new technology is affecting the science all while reducing travel and associated carbon costs,” said NIMBioS Director Louis Gross.

NIMBioS also plans to use its Wiggio Premium account to develop an educational program called the Teacher Collaboration Program, which connects high school math and biology teachers with someone in the NIMBioS research community. The goal of these partnerships will be to promote the unity of math and life science in the classroom by posting articles, answering questions, and sharing resources through the application.

By offering this upgraded version, Wiggio’s goal is to take cloud collaboration to the next level.

“We’re thrilled to have the opportunity to work with NIMBioS,”said Wiggio Founder and CEO Dana Lampert. “Wiggio has always enabled teams and organizations to work together online–we’ve now built this premium version to best meet the advanced needs of groups like NIMBioS, who request an ad-free, private-labeled environment for their members.”

Wiggio’s membership has risen to nearly one million users since its launch in 2008. The company plans to offer optional account upgrades to more clients in the near future.

NIMBioS is sponsored by the National Science Foundation, the US Department of Homeland Security, and the US Department of Agriculture, with additional support from UT.
