KNOXVILLE -– The University of Tennessee School of Information Sciences (SIS) celebrates 40 years as an American Library Association accredited program with the final installment in the Past Director Lecture Series. Former SIS director Elizabeth Aversa will speak on “Changing Lives Through Information Services and Technologies,” 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, September 28, in the Scripps Convergence Lab Theater in the Communications Building.
The talk is free and open to the public.
Aversa was SIS director from 1999 to 2003, and is currently a professor at the University of Alabama’s School of Library and Information Studies. She is highly respected and widely known in the library and information sciences profession.
The lecture series honors the school’s past directors for their role in SIS achieving success as one of the nation’s highest ranked programs. Former directors who have returned to UT Knoxville for the lecture series include Ann Prentice and Jose Marie Griffiths.
