Fellow students,

I’d like to invite you to the annual Kickoff to Commencement celebration honoring all spring and summer graduates. This year we completely revamped Kickoff to be a full-blown concert FREE for everyone
!
Who – Sister Hazel
Where – Thompson-Boling Arena
Date – May 5, 2009
Time – Doors open at 6:30 p.m.

Sponsored by the Student Government Association, this event officially begins our graduation activities and is free and open to the campus community. Graduates will get the VIP treatment and receive free swag and food. Concessions will also be open for all other guests. And don’t worry; we will have you out in plenty of time to celebrate Cinco de Mayo with all of your friends
!
Chancellor Jimmy G. Cheek and Young Alumni President David Leaverton will welcome the group before the show begins. The band – Sister Hazel – is well-known for its live shows and hits “All for You” and “Change Your Mind.”

The evening will begin at 6 p.m. at the Torchbearer with Aloha Oe – – the candlelight ceremony for seniors that reminds us of our pledge to serve the university and community. Graduates should plan to gather at Circle Park at 6 p.m. to be a part of this meaningful tradition.

We hope you will plan to attend Kickoff to Commencement and celebrate graduation with your university family. Please visit http://www.utk.edu/kickoff for more event information.

While you’re on this site, take a moment to share some of your favorite pictures and memories from your time at UT by clicking on the Senior Memories link to the left of the page. We’re collecting them throughout commencement and will display them on Flicker.

If you have questions about the event, contact Beth Gladden at 974-9008 or bgladden@utk.edu.

I hope to see you all on May 5.
