KNOXVILLE — This year’s Carnicus promises to take a lighthearted look at the state of the University of Tennessee’s budget over the past academic year.

This is the 80th year for Carnicus, a singing and drama competition among student groups presented by UT Knoxville’s All Campus Events.

“A Budget Cut Carnicus” will feature eight skits performed by 14 student organizations. The fun begins at 7:30 p.m. Saturday, April 18, at the Knoxville Civic Auditorium.

Participating organizations are Alpha Chi Omega and Delta Zeta; Alpha Delta Pi and Alpha Omicron Pi; Alpha Gamma Rho; Alpha Phi Alphi Fraternity Inc. and Zeta Tau Alpha; Chi Omega; Delta Delta Delta and Phi Mu; Delta Gamma and Kappa Kappa Gamma; and Kappa Sigma and Kappa Delta.

Themes of the skits include “Pinocchio,” “Scooby Doo,” “Gilligan’s Island,” “Elf” and “Cinderella.” Winners from the skit competition will be announced following the performance.

Tickets are $8 for students and $15 for the general public. Tickets can be purchased at the UT Central Ticket Office or through Tickets Unlimited at (865) 656-4444 and http://www.knoxvilletickets.com.
