Nuclear Security Expert Hall Named Third UT-ORNL Governor’s Chair

Howard Hall, a nuclear chemist and expert in preventing and responding to nuclear terrorism, has been named as the third UT-ORNL Governor’s Chair. Hall, currently the radiological detection and response program leader at Lawrence Livermore National Laboratory, will hold appointments in the UT Knoxville nuclear engineering department and the global nuclear security division at ORNL.

Cargile Joins UT’s National Defense Business Institute as Deputy Director

Robert Cargile has joined the University of Tennessee’s National Defense Business Institute (NDBI) as deputy director of contracts management. Cargile joins the institute from UT Knoxville’s College of Education, Health and Human Sciences, where he served as the research services coordinator. Prior to that, he was assistant director of UT Knoxville’s Office of Research.

Hulsey is QUEST Scholar of the Week

Darrin Hulsey, an assistant professor in the Department of Ecology and Evolutionary Biology, co-authored a study on dental genes in members of the Cichlidae family of fish that, 500 million years ago, may have provided the blueprint for all teeth in vertebrates today.
