Dr. Jimmy G. Cheek, the last of the five finalists for UT Knoxville chancellor, visits campus this week. Dr. Cheek is currently senior vice president for agriculture and natural resources at the University of Florida. He will interview for two days and participate in two campus community forums, each an hour long. These forums will provide the opportunity for faculty, staff, students and members of the community to meet the candidate, ask him questions and submit feedback to those involved in the search process.

Public Forum: 3:45 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 24, in the Hodges Library Auditorium. The candidate will be available to talk to the media for 10 minutes immediately following the forum.

A second forum will be held at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday, Sept. 25, in the University Center Auditorium. No media availability is scheduled after this forum.

The campus community forums will be webcast live and archived on the chancellor search Web site, http://chancellor.utk.edu/search/. This Web site also features more information about each of the candidates, including their photos and curriculum vitae.

Audience members, those viewing the webcast and all members of the campus community will be invited to submit feedback about the candidates. Feedback can be submitted online at http://chancellor.utk.edu/search/evaluation/index.shtml. All feedback on all candidates must be received by 5 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26, to be considered by the search committee and President John Petersen.

A 21-member committee selected the finalists in August. Chaired by Hap McSween, Distinguished Professor of Science and head of the Department of Earth & Planetary Sciences, the committee represents a broad-based group of faculty, staff, students and community leaders.
